For 25 years, SOUL Bar & Bistro has set the standard on Viaduct Harbour. We hold a Cuisine 2 Hat award, consistent placing in the Viva Top 50 Restaurants, and a Tripadvisor Travellers' Choice award placing us in the top 10% worldwide. We serve around 2,000 covers a week, lunch and dinner, seven days.

We're looking for an experienced Front of House Duty Manager to run that floor. You'll lead a team of up to 20 through some of the busiest services in the city, working alongside a senior management team that backs you.

The role

Run lunch and dinner service end to end: reservations, seating, table turns, waitlist and flow

Lead, position and support a team of up to 20 through high-volume service

Coach and develop your team, with the structured in-house training we've built at Soul

Handle guest feedback, complaints and curveballs calmly, and turn them around

Manage intoxication and conflict confidently and appropriately

Control labour and operational costs, and handle cash and cashiering accurately

Work in step with the kitchen and bar so service stays seamless

You'll bring

At least two years as a Duty Manager (or equivalent) in a high-volume venue, ideally 1,000+ covers a week

A proven record of leading, coaching and holding a team to a standard

Sound judgement under pressure, and a calm presence when service goes sideways

Strong wine, beer and spirits knowledge

Good numeracy, with a working understanding of labour and budgets

Flexibility for a rotating roster including evenings and weekends

What we offer

$30–$33 per hour, negotiable depending on experience, on a permanent full-time basis (30–40 hours a week)
