Which UK employers can sponsor a visa?

Only employers that hold a sponsor licence from the Home Office can sponsor a Skilled Worker visa. They appear on the government register of licensed sponsors. Each job here says whether its employer is on that register, and the company page shows the entry.

Can I change employer if I already have a Skilled Worker visa?

Yes. The new employer must hold a sponsor licence and give you a new certificate of sponsorship for the new job, and you apply to update your visa. Check GOV.UK for the current rules before you resign.

What is a certificate of sponsorship?

A reference number a licensed employer assigns to you for one specific job. You need it to apply for a Skilled Worker visa. It is not a document you buy: a licensed sponsor must not charge you for it.

Can I apply from the UAE, Saudi Arabia or Qatar?

Yes. These work visas are applied for from outside the country, so you can apply while you work in the Gulf or anywhere else. Many applications also ask for a police clearance certificate from the countries you have lived in, and the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar issue them.
