Job Description

  • Bring your contractor experience to varied infrastructure projects, with commercial involvement from procurement through to final account.
  • Work across structures, three waters, marine and mechanical infrastructure.
  • Partner directly with Project Managers and site teams on commercial decisions.
  • Christchurch-based, with South Island focus and occasional national travel.

Put your experience to work across the whole project

You’ve built solid QS experience with a Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor. You understand contract requirements, know where commercial risks sit and can hold your own in a discussion about costs, variations or entitlement.

At Seipp, you’ll bring that experience into a role where you stay close to the work and the people delivering it.

Working alongside our Project Managers, you’ll help shape commercial decisions throughout the project lifecycle. You’ll understand what’s happening on site, identify issues early and work through practical solutions with the team.

The work you’ll be involved in

Seipp delivers complex civil infrastructure across New Zealand, spanning structures, three waters, marine, mechanical and heavy civil works.

That breadth brings different construction methods, procurement challenges and contractual considerations. It’s a role for someone who enjoys understanding how a project comes together and using that knowledge to improve the outcome.

You’ll primarily support our South Island operations, with commercial input across the wider business when needed. Travel is typically around two nights per month.

Your work will include

  • Managing cost reporting, forecasting and cashflow, giving Project Managers a clear view of project performance.
  • Preparing, pricing and negotiating variations and claims, supported by sound records and contractual entitlement.
  • Supporting procurement and putting subcontractor and supplier agreements in place.
  • Assessing subcontractor claims and managing commercial obligations.
  • Identifying risks and opportunities early, then working with the delivery team to act on them.
  • Working through commercial matters with clients, consultants and subcontractors.
  • Contributing to tendering and estimating when required.
  • Why consider Seipp?

A broader range of work. Apply your experience across different infrastructure disciplines, projects and teams.

A close connection to delivery. Work directly with Project Managers and site teams, with the opportunity to influence decisions as the work progresses.

Scope to contribute. We’re a growing business, and we value people who bring sound judgement, challenge constructively and help improve how we work.

Our purpose is to make a difference through infrastructure that supports better lives and healthier communities. We take pride in the work, look after our people and value straight conversations and follow-through.

What we’re looking for

For this role, you’ll need

6–10 years’ quantity surveying experience.

At least two years’ relevant New Zealand experience.

* A background working for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 construction contractor.

You’ll bring experience in civil construction or infrastructure, a relevant quantity surveying or engineering qualification, and strong capability in cost management, forecasting, contracts and variations.

You’ll be confident explaining the commercial position, negotiating outcomes and raising concerns early. Strong Excel skills and experience with Workbench or a similar system will also be useful.

How you work matters. We’re looking for someone who takes responsibility, builds trust with project teams and combines commercial discipline with a practical understanding of construction.
